I have an Associates of Applied Science in Photography degree from Spokane Falls Community College. During my time at SFCC I focused specifically on commercial and fashion photography which is where my personal interest lies. I began taking photos in 2012 when a family friend of mine invited me to assist him in a photography project he was working on and I was immediately hooked. After discovering I really enjoyed photography, I saved up money and purchased my first camera, a Nikon D80. In order to practice, I asked friends and family to model for me, which is when I began to work on my editing skills in Lightroom and Photoshop.
I have practiced photographing a wide range of styles which have predominately included portraits, weddings, landscapes, animals, and products. I found through the years of bouncing between these different types of photography that my passion is fashion and commercial. The little details that are required to photograph fashion and product is what really drew me in that direction. I have total control over everything going on in the image, and there isn’t a single object that hasn’t been put there with a purpose. With all the planning that goes into one image, I feel like I can create my vision for everybody else to see.
My hope is my work will be able to display a product’s quality or a company’s brand in a positive light. My images must market to a buyer to convince them why they need the product or how they would benefit from having it. This is done by conveying the ideas the company already has in place and creating a connection between the buyer and the company on a deeper level past pure business. Images have the ability to create emotion and bring back memories by playing on all your senses of sight, smell, touch, and sound.
